Yes, relevant and still automotive competition.
The Tortoise and the Hare aspect has always been around. Usually for the purpose of saving tires. Teams that wanted to take the Tortoise approach held their cards close to their chests and tried to sneak this past other teams.
What this new form of racing does is put it all on the table from the outset. There will no longer be an all-out Hare approach, but degrees of Tortoise. Still compelling, which is all that matters.
